Best President's Day Ever!

February 22, 1732 is President George Washington’s recorded birth date. But conventionally, it is the third Monday of February that marks ‘Washington’s Birthday’ or ‘Presidents' Day.’ That day is a federal holiday. It commemorates our past Presidents.

February 17, 2014 is a very special Presidents' Day. That is the day when someone came and enriched our lives. I speak of no President or past President. But for our family, that date is no less significant. So our celebration continues.

As President’s Day nears, some school teachers tell their pupils about our past Presidents. Their labors, struggles, failures and accomplishments hold many lessons for us. As youths enter the world, we hope they will find wisdom to make our own world better.

Wisdom is always good. But especially in a world where much is broken, wisdom matters. Joining of our lives allows us all to live better. Lessons easily overlooked are now learned. We are also learning to reshape the things we know to live more wisely and more fully.

In an idyllic world, no creature would be homeless; and in a better world, every homecoming would be a national holiday. In one home, that was Presidents' Day 2014. That it was Presidents Day was irrelevant. The real celebration in our world and his was that Dexter came home.

After waiting three years, Dexter is with his forever family. Dexter's days are full of love and care. All that he needs, he has. Dexter has arrived at his place in the world.

My name is Dexter. I am an American Pit bull Terrier.

This weblog is my love letter to those I meet.
